JUMP'IN TUMBLING & TRAMPOLINE PROGRAMPurvis & Hattiesburg
What is Trampoline and Power Tumbling?
Trampoline and Tumbling (T&T) is a sport for everyone! Body type and size are not nearly as important in tumbling and trampoline as in artistic gymnastics. People of all ages and body types are capable of performing on an equal level, even competitively, thanks to the unique spring devises used in the T&T events. The movement skills and kinesthetic awareness (“air sense”) acquired in T&T transfer perfectly to other sports such as cheerleading, diving, jump roping, and wake boarding.
TumbleStars T&T Class & Program Structure
We start all TumbleStars T&T classes with general fitness activities which include cardio, strength and flexibility. After the warm-up, athletes will learn and practice a variety of tumbling skills using spring floors, tumbling specific mats, drills and trampolines including the TumbleTrak – a long trampoline that enters the foam pit. Jump’In Gym also has a rod floor that is designed with fiber glass rods to aid in spring and air time. Skills range from basic handstands and cartwheels to back flips and twisting, depending on class level.
Beginner TumbleStars
Beginner TumbleStars will learn the basics of tumbling including front and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheel, bridge kickovers, limbers, and round-offs. They will also learn basic jumps on trampoline and double-mini trampoline. Once they master these skills, they will be moved up to the Intermediate Class.
Returning students that have not received a move-up slip or move-up certificate should register for the same class they completed in May. Returning students may schedule a private evaluation through the front desk if you wish to see where your child’s skill level is and what they need in order to move-up. The front desk can also answer any questions you may have about the program.
Intermediate TumbleStars
Intermediate TumbleStars begin to learn back handsprings, front handsprings, connecting skills, and more advanced trampoline and rod floor tumbling. They also begin to connect skills on trampoline and double mini-trampoline.
Most students take class once or twice a week in preparation for Advanced T&T or our Pre-Team. We do provide discounts for attending more than one class per week and for multiple children in one family taking classes. Please see our Class Price List and Class Policies page for more information regarding the discount program.
Advanced TumbleStars
Advanced TumbleStars learn the highest level of tumbling and trampoline which include back tucks, back layouts, and twisting. This class is the highest level tumbling class offered other than our T&T Pre-Team and Team. Most Advanced TumbleStars are invited to one of these teams or transition into our competitive cheer program.

Interested in our Tumbling & Trampoline Team?
All children have different needs and reach success in different ways. Jump’In Gym feels every child should have an equal opportunity to compete if they wish, no matter which path they take. One way to make it onto one of the competitive teams at Jump’In Gymnastics & Tumbling is through the T&T program. The competitive tumbling program is great for all ages and skill levels. Athletes develop air awareness and supreme basics which lead to more advanced skills like double flips and twists. Here is a breakdown of how your athlete can become a MS Rebounders competitive tumbler.
#1 – A physically strong and flexible student, who has shown exceptional listening skills, an extreme level of work ethic and ability to make corrections quickly in class will receive an invitation in the mail to try the JumpStars T&T Pre-Team for 4 weeks to make sure it is a good fit. Jump’In Gym sends out invitations twice a year: April & December.
#2 - Students in our Intermediate and Advanced classes may move into one of our tumbling team programs: JumpStars T&T Pre-Team or MS Rebounders T&T Team. Please e-mail the Tumbling & Trampoline team director at tumbleteam@jumpin-gym.com with questions.
