Quincey Easterling (or Coach Q), father of two lovely daughters, was born in Laurel, Mississippi. Easterling was well known for years in his community as a dynamic trainer and “flipper”. He received scholarship from an anonymous donor to participate in competitive gymnastics as a child at KIPS in Hattiesburg. He graduated high school at Luke C. Moore Academy in Washington DC. After high school, Easterling served in the U.S. Army, later moving to Houston, Texas, were he became a graduate of Texas Southern University with a BS in Health-Kinesiology.
Coach Q (as he is known in the gym) served as a collegiate cheerleader and was captain for two years. While in college Easterling worked for Houston Gymnastics Academy, home of three-time Olympic Head Coach, Kevin Mazeika and Olympians Sean Townson, and Raj Bhavsar.
Easterling became an all-around cheerleading and gymnastic coach under Kevin’s leadership. He also served 7 years as an ambassador for the NBA under the Houston Rockets Entertainment Launch Crew. Easterling moved to Katy, Texas where he worked at Westwood Gymnastics and served as lead-coach in various recreational programs. While in Texas, he became an elementary teacher and started a Power Tumbling Program at Twister Spirits Athletics, offering encouragement and guidance to our youngest gymnasts and the talented coaching staff he managed.
Now at Jump’In Gymnastics & Tumbling, Easterling serves as the Tumbling & Trampoline Director and Assistance Boys Team Coach.
